Lower Primary (Years 1 & 2)
Lower Primary Learning

In Year 1 and 2 we want to develop a love of learning combined with learning that lasts a lifetime.

Through every lesson we experience God’s creation and His perfect plan of Salvation for each of us. We learn through our “Promise Club” that God is trustworthy, He keeps His promises and never lets us down. This learning continues into a Son Seeker Safari where we come to understand that God is close to us wherever we are.

The students have seen life cycles and minibeasts come to life by seeing eggs hatch into caterpillars, caterpillars grow and seek refuge in a chrysalis and the joy of seeing the new butterflies spread their wings for the first time. As we released them into blue skies, the process then started again.

We’re not afraid to ask the “BIG Questions” and encourage the children not only to find the answers but to also find out the why’s!

Year 1 and 2 step back in time to see what life was like for their parents and grandparents and predict what life might be like for them in the future. We have visited Como House and Mont De Lancey and compared it to our life today. We have also looked at places that are important to us and our country. We become scientists to see how materials change when we push and pull them and melt them or freeze them. We become water workers to learn about the water cycle and conservationists to learn how to look after the resources that we have. We become postal workers to deliver mail and doctors to learn about how our bodies work and how we can keep them healthy and safe.

Buddy time with our school mates in Year 3 and 4 is a special time to read, play, make crafts, eat and to form supportive friendships.

We celebrate our extended families by inviting grandparents to “Potato Athletics” events and invite them to share in our learning with Grandparents Meet Minibeasts exhibition. Mothers and fathers are not left out as we have afternoon tea, dinner and games afternoons which all include serving with our best smile, lovely manners and a great attitude.

We aim to make our classrooms a fun learning environment where children are willing to learn, resilient, respectful and responsible.
